An effective way to secure your sensitive files is to hide them within other files. It may sound like something that can happen only in movies, but the process is very possible and it is not hard to perform. With Jpeg Bandit, you can hide archives in your pictures. The application will take you through a brief process and the result will be an image that contains an archive, on a very basic level.

Jpeg Bandit is very lightweight and you will not have to install it. It comes in a 262 Zip archive which contains an .exe and a .dll file. Once they are extracted, you can run the application right away. It requires the 4.0 version of .NET Framework and it works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Jpeg Bandit works like a wizard. Next and Previous buttons allow you to go through a number of stages, during which you will have to follow a few simple instructions. The entire process can be described in a few words. You need to select an image, an archive, specify a destination folder and click a button.

The archive may contain any data you want, regardless of size or format, but the image must be in JPEG format. Extracting the files is just as easy. Instead of loading an image, you need to click a separate option, during the first step. It will bring up a new window, where you can load the image which contains the archive. After specifying a destination folder, you may click a button to extract the archive. The application will not keep you waiting because it is capable of hiding or extracting archives very fast.

Pros

Jpeg Bandit can hide any type of archive in your pictures. The format or size of the contained files does not matter. The software will hide the archive in a matter of seconds.

Cons

For the moment, the application has a few limitations. You can not hide archives in pictures that are larger than 500 Kb. Jpeg Bandit offers an excellent solution for protecting your data. It lets you hide data in your images, without any effort.
